HADES

The HADES system provides advanced capabilities for Submarine Bow Array signal and display processing. Design and developed by Kaon Limited, with a number of work packages being supplied by Advansys Solutions Limted.

HADES has been designed to provide an invaluable processing suite and intuitive interface for the sonar operator. HADES processes the acoustic data from the Bow Array in three ways, to maximise the information to be gained from this raw data. Firstly it provides Broadband processing, which undertakes processing upon a large bandwidth of the input signal. This is used to detect and track the general 'noise' coming from a contact. Secondly, Narrowband processing is undertaken to detect the specific radiated tonal frequencies and noises from a contact. Finally it also provides processing to detect specific known signals of interest, with dedicated algorithms.

The results of all three processing methods are presented to the sonar operator via intuitive user friendly displays, delivering an unprecedented level of information in a clear and concise format.
