Kaon is part of Osprey consortium which has been awarded a Ministry of Defence (MOD) enabling contract worth at least £4m a year over three years with an option to extend for a further two years. The consortium will provide a fresh approach to the provision of innovative underwater sensing.

Consortium members are: BAE Systems, Chelsea Technologies Group, Drumgrange, Heriot-Watt University, Imperial College, Kaon, Nautronix, Loughborough University, QinetiQ, Roke Manor Research, Systems Engineering Assessment Ltd (SEA), Tenet Defence, Thales UK, University College London, University of Bath, University of Birmingham, University of Loughborough and University of Southampton.
