10 Jan 2008 - Sonar 2087 RR&A

Kaon is pleased to announce they have been awarded a contract from Thales UK for the provision of recording and replay facilities for Sonar 2087 for which Thales is the prime contractor. Having teamed successfully through the open competition to win the MoD contract, Thales and Kaon look forward to designing and implementing an open and flexible Record Replay and Analysis capability for Sonar 2087.

The contract covers design development and supply of record and replay systems for S2087, shore based data upload and an active data viewing tool. Together these contracts will assist the MoD in the future development of the S2087 facilities both ashore and at sea.

This contract builds on Kaon’s expertise and experience in surface ship LFA sonar systems and previous S2087 RR&A contracts. Kaon have been supporting LFA sonars for over a decade, providing open COTS based record, replay and analysis systems and support to a number of customers.

Sonar 2087 is the most advanced sonar deployed to date by the Royal Navy. It is currently fitted to some Type 23 Duke class frigates and will provide the capability to hunt the latest classes of submarines at great distances.
