Kaon is delighted to announce that they have been awarded the contract from Dstl to provide a proof of concept hard disk recording system, to be known as HERA. The system will be fitted to an RN submarine
in 2009 for evaluation, pending any decision on a wider fit. HERA will be used to record sonar sensor and non-acoustic information.
The system will provide recordings at up to ~350MB/s, whilst maintaining an extremely high level of reliability and operability. The recordings will be provided on high capacity hard-disks, which will changed via hot-swap technology, to provide seamless recordings.
HERA will build upon Kaon’s expertise and long track record in recording systems, and specifically hard disk recording systems, such as Typhon and S2087 RR&A.
