Kaon has been awarded the contract to develop 'Typhon' for unprecedented sonar data recording performance.

Kaon has recently been awarded the contract to provide a sonar data recording solution to the Osprey Consortium. The recording system, named Typhon, will provide an unprecedented level of capability, providing seamless recording of S2076 Flank Array, Bow Array and Towed Array element data in parallel. The system will be capable of sustained bandwdiths in excess of 700MB/s, far in excess of any current system deployed on-board UK Royal Naval Platforms.

The QinetiQ led Osprey Consortium was formed in 2005 from both commercial and academic organisations in order to provide the MoD with access to the 'best of breed' UK technologies in innovative underwater sensing.
